The Beaming Pattern of Doppler Boosted Thermal Annihilation Radiation: Application to Mev Blazars

چکیده

The beaming pattern of thermal annihilation radiation is broader than the beaming pattern produced by isotropic nonthermal electrons and positrons in the jets of radio-emitting active galactic nuclei which Compton scatter photons from an external isotropic radiation field. Thus blueshifted thermal annihilation radiation can provide the dominant contribution to the high-energy radiation spectrum at observing angles θ ∼> 1/Γ, where Γ is the bulk Lorentz factor of the outflowing plasma. This effect may account for the spectral features of MeV blazars discovered with the Compton Telescope on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. Coordinated gamma-ray observations of annihilation line radiation to infer Doppler factors and VLBI radio observations to measure transverse angular speeds of outflowing plasma blobs can be used to determine the Hubble constant. The beaming pattern and spectrum of radiation from inverse Compton scattering in blazars

By including Klein–Nishina effects, we generalize previous calculations of the beaming pattern of photons produced by inverse Compton scattering. For an isotropic distribution of soft photons upscattered by nonthermal electrons with a power-law density distribution n(γ) ∝ γ, embedded in a plasma moving with relativistic bulk speed we show that the observed radiation intensity is proportional to...

Transrelativistic pair plasmas in AGN jets

Models of relativistic jets filled with ultrarelativistic pair plasma have turned out to be very suitable to explain the broadband radiation of γ-ray blazars. Given the initial injection and cooling of ultrarelativistic pair plasma in an AGN jet has occurred, producing the observed high-energy γ-ray radiation, we investigate the further evolution of the pair plasma as it continues to move out f...

Annihilation Fountain in the Galactic Center Region

Two different model-independent mapping techniques have been applied to CGRO OSSE, SMM, TGRS and balloon data and reveal a feature in the 0.511 MeV e +-e − annihilation radiation pattern of our galaxy centered at ℓ ∼ −2 • and b ∼ 10 • with a flux of ∼ 5 · 10 −4 0.511 MeV ph cm −2 s −1. If near the galactic center, then e + sources are producing ∼ 10 42 e + s −1 which annihilate ≈ 1-2 kpc above ...

Beaming effect for Fermi/LAT blazars

In this talk, we will show the beaming effect for Fermi/LAT blazars, then we discuss the correlations between γ-ray luminosity and other parameters, such as radio Doppler factors, superluminal motions, and core-dominance parameters. We also compare the Doppler factors determined from the γ-ray luminosity, X-ray emissions, and the short-term time scales with those from other methods. Our discuss...

A Hadronic Synchrotron Mirror Model for the “ orphan ” TeV flare in 1 ES 1959 + 650

Very-high-energy γ-ray flares of TeV blazars are generally accompanied by simultaneous flaring activity in X-rays. The recent observations by the Whipple collaboration of an “orphan” TeV flare of 1ES 1959+650 (without simultaneous X-ray flare) is very hard to reconcile with the standard leptonic SSC model which is routinely very successfully employed to explain the SED and spectral variability ...
